THE 4th CODE READ AFRICA BALL

On March 9th join CODE and its new partner the Toronto Twilight Rotary Club (TTRC) to celebrate and experience the magic of Africa while supporting the fundamental basic human right of learning how to read & write for children in the developing world.

Enjoy the fun, hip atmosphere of '2nd Floor Events' over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while getting an opportunity to learn more about the inspiring work of CODE. Of particular interest will be donors and friends who will have just returned from a two-week “Seeing is Believing Tour of Ghana” who can share their experience.

Beyond Sound

Be entertained by the energetic African drum performance of “Beyond Sound” - Beyond Sound Empijah, is a newly formed collective of young musicians between the ages of 10 to 25 years old who have grown up in various arts organizations throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The collective possess over 25 years of performance experience. Each musician has been nurtured, trained and shaped under the tutelage of master drummers and dancers from the African diaspora, in the art of Djembe and DjunDjun playing and contemporary and traditional dance.

During the course of the evening, you will have the chance to test your luck with opportunities to win great prizes through a silent auction (including exceptional African Art), a raffle draw, 50-50 tickets and joker poker – all the while supporting literacy!

 

Reading Sierra Leone booksREADING SIERRA LEONE 20/20

This year’s Read Africa Ball will have a particular focus in support of CODE’s programming in Sierra Leone – in helping to publish locally authored and illustrated story-books, empower teachers with training and resource libraries. All funds generated through the event will also serve to help CODE in its collaboration with the Toronto Twilight Rotary Club in working to engage additional support from Rotary District 707070.
